Osteopath Appointment FAQs

Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath?

Generally no, you don't need a referral to see an osteopath. They are primary health care practitioners, which means all you need to do is call or book online to make an appointment.  We do require all DVA patients to have a referral from their  General Practitioner before commencing treatment.

How long is the appointment?

Our initial consultations are 45-60 minutes in duration.  For our initial consultation we suggest that patients arrive at least 5 minutes early to fill out the required paperwork.
Standard consultations are 15-30 minutes in duration.

Appointment descriptions:

When booking an appointment online it is important to understand the difference between the type of services being offered.

Initial consultation:
please select an initial consultation if its your first time at Keep Active Osteopathy as a patient.

Standard consultation:  please select standard consultation if you have presented to Keep Active Osteopathy in the past. Even if your appointment will be for a different condition than the one you initially presented, you would still select standard consultation.

Rehabilitation consultation:  please select rehabilitation consultation if you are booking in for an exercise rehab or strength and conditioning session. These sessions usually do not involve direct manual therapy treatment.

What do I wear to the appointment?

Osteopathy is 'hands on' so you may be asked to remove some clothing items depending on where you are to be treated.  It is best if you wear non restrictive clothes that can move around.

Do I need to bring anything to the appointment?

Please bring with you any x-rays, ultrasounds, CT and MRI scans and reports or any other test results that you feel are applicable to your presenting complaint on your initial consultation.

Appointment Costs:

Initial consultation cost is $90 or $85 with health care card or concession.
Standard consultation cost is $70 or $65 with health care card or concession.

Private Health Rebates:

Medicare Funded Chronic Disease Management Scheme:

If you suffer from chronic pain then you may be eligible for a CDM plan, this provides you with up to five Medicare funded visits at our clinic. You will need to discuss your eligibility with your General Practitioner. We ask that you pay for you funded treatment upfront and are able to provide you with the rebate onsite.

Work Cover and TAC:
