Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath?
Generally no, you don't need a referral to see an osteopath. They are primary health care practitioners, which means all you need to do is call or book online to make an appointment. We do require all DVA patients to have a referral from their General Practitioner before commencing treatment.
HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?
Our initial consultations are 30-45 minutes in duration. For our initial consultation we suggest that patients arrive at least 5 minutes early to fill out the required paperwork.

Appointment descriptions
When booking an appointment online it is important to understand the difference between the type of services being offered.
Initial consultation: please select an initial consultation if its your first time at Keep Active Osteopathy as a patient.
Standard consultation: please select standard consultation if you have presented to Keep Active Osteopathy in the past. Even if your appointment will be for a different condition than the one you initially presented, you would still select standard consultation.
Rehabilitation consultation: please select rehabilitation consultation if you are booking in for an exercise rehab or strength and conditioning session. These sessions usually do not involve direct manual therapy treatment.

What do I wear to the appointment?
Osteopathy is 'hands on' so you may be asked to remove some clothing items depending on where you are to be treated. It is best if you wear non restrictive clothes that can move around.
Do I need to bring anything to the appointment?
Please bring with you any x-rays, ultrasounds, CT and MRI scans and reports or any other test results that you feel are applicable to your presenting complaint on your initial consultation.
Private Health Rebates:
We have HICAPS facilities at the clinic and are able to process your private health claim on the spot. Your rebate amount will depend on the level of cover you have with your private health insurer.
Medicare Funded Chronic Disease Management Scheme:
If you suffer from chronic pain then you may be eligible for a CDM plan, this provides you with up to five Medicare funded visits at our clinic. You will need to discuss your eligibility with your General Practitioner. We ask that you pay for you funded treatment upfront and are able to provide you with the rebate onsite.
Work Cover and TAC:
We are registered WorkCover and TAC providers. If you are claiming for care through either of these providers please advise us upon booking.
Veterans Affairs:
DVA Health Cards (Gold and White) are accepted as payment upon a GP referral. We must have the referral prior to commencing treatment.

Cancelling an appointment
We require a minimum of 6 hours notice for all cancellations, otherwise you will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of your consultation fee. A NO SHOW will incur the full appointment cost to be paid before rebooking.
Gym Program FAQs
What type of training is offered?
We offer one on one personal training, small group sessions (2-4 people) and rehabilitation sessions. For more information of our personal training please see the SERVICES tab.
How long is the training session?
We normally do 30 or 45 minute sessions depending on your requirements.
What do I wear to the training session?
It is best if you wear non restrictive clothes that you can move around in easily.
What do I bring to the training session?
It is a good idea to bring a sweat towel and a drink bottle.
Do I need a Medical Clearance to undertake training sessions?
We will require you to fill out a medical screening questionnaire before commencing training at our facilities. Should there be a need following this screen, we may ask you to gain a Medical Clearance form your General Practitioner prior to commencing any training.
Training & Rehabilitation session costs
Training and rehabilitation session costs will be dependant on what type of class you are doing and/or whether it is an individual session or group session.
